‘Between Yes and No’ – 2009

The show “Between Yes and No” at Samuha Artists’ Initiative in Bangalore in December 2009 brought together two interests – Visual Art and Music – by transforming the studio into both exhibition and performance space. The mystical poetry of the 15th century north Indian poet Kabir, Sufi poems and other mystical works from the south of India was fused with visuals on the walls in an attempt to explore the two ‘forms’ of communication: music was performed in a space with poems written on the walls. The walls were themselves transformed; art was not hung on them. Those who attended the opening attended a performance, a living rendition of the words around.
